Provenance: Bequeathed to the Academy by Francesc Ignasi de Montserrat, who made his will in Valencia on June 11th 1859.

Restauration: restored by Balaguer & Grau workshop in 1999.

Note: The portrayed was "receiver of Malta" in Barcelona. There exists a preparatory drawing for the head (DIEZ 1994, P-721), coming from the Casa Torres collection in Madrid. The work was on loan to the Museus d’Art de Barcelona with inv. no. 10278. It was returned on December 1st 1980. |
