Barcelona, 1925-2021.
Aguadé started as a potter apprentice in the studio of Josep Llorens Artigas, and he worked in it for ten years. During this period he collaborated in doing several glazed pieces made by Josep Llorens Artigas and Joan Miró. He continued his formation in the workshop of Philippe Rouard (Paris, France) and at Tyra Lundgrens and Gocken Jobs (Sweden).
He held his first solo show in Barcelona in 1947.
He always worked in everyday ceramic series from his beginnings until now. He has been the recipient of several awards including the Gold Medal in the Bavarian State Prize in 1980. He collaborated with artists such as André Ricard, Javier Mariscal, Perico Pastor, Sybilla, Eulàlia Coma, Martín de Azúa, etc.
In 1960 he founded La Cantonada group with Jordi Vilanova, Aureli Bisbe, Joan Vila Grau and Jordi Bonet.
He made several ceramic murals with the painter Joan Vila Grau for the Col·legi de Metges in Barcelona, Caves Codorniu in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, Autopistes in Lleida, etc. He also worked in small works for different exhibitions.
His pottery is displayed in collections around Europe, including the Fine Arts Museums in Barcelona and Valencia, Coburg (Germany), the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge (UK).
He explored the different possibilities of glaze on potter wheel works. He mainly works in high temperature kilns in a neutral atmosphere in oxidation and also in reduction.
He has been elected number member of the Academy from January 15, 2003, having accepted the proposal of the numbered academics Fernando Boneu i Companys, Àngel Fàbrega i Grau, and Josep M. Garrut i Romà. The 21st May 2003, he gave a speech on “L’art del fang i el foc” (Art of Fire and Clay).
