The Reial Acadèmia Catalana de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi has three kinds of members: Permanent Academicians, Corresponding Academicians; Honorary Academicians.
Permanent Academicians are those who are resident in Catalonia, they have full voting rights in the Academy's plenary sessions and are eligible to serve as members of the governing body. To become a Permanent Academician one has to be proposed by three Permanent Academicians. The proposal is followed by three lectures which are given monthly. Next, the Academy members of the same category of art as the nominee have to present a report on the potential academician. A mock vote takes place followed finally by the definite vote in which the absolute majority of academicians have to take part. The candidate can only be voted in with the absolute majority of the votes.
Corresponding Academicians are those who represent the Academy in other locations. They can take part in the Academy's Plenary Sessions although they do not have voting rights. They are elected in a similar way to Permanent Academicians. The candidate must be proposed by a further three Permanent Academicians. The proposal is followed by three lectures which lead to the definite vote with the same rules and regulations as that of the Permanent Academicians.
Honorary Academicians are outstanding figures in the field of arts on which the Academy bestows special consideration. They can take part in the Academy's Plenary Sessions although they do not have voting rights. Honorary Academicians must also be proposed by a further three Permanent Academicians but only one voting session takes place, which follows the same rules and regulations as the ones mentioned above.
Super-permanent Academicians are former Permanent Academicians who disassociated themselves with the Academy's functions. They are still considered as Academicians but have no rights or responsibilities.
