{"id":31396,"date":"2023-12-12T17:00:19","date_gmt":"2023-12-12T16:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racba.org\/academic\/ribas-i-piera-manuel-2\/"},"modified":"2023-12-12T17:00:19","modified_gmt":"2023-12-12T16:00:19","slug":"ribas-i-piera-manuel-2","status":"publish","type":"academic","link":"https:\/\/www.racba.org\/en\/academic\/ribas-i-piera-manuel-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Ribas i Piera, Manuel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>1925-2013<br \/>\nHe is a Doctor architect, graduated in Law, university professor and member of the &#8220;Institut d&#8217;Estudis Catalans&#8221; (he was president of its Science and Technology Department).<br \/>\nHe was appointed as Honorary Academician of the &#8220;Reial Acad\u00e8mia Catalana de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi&#8221; on 17 March 1999, under the proposal of Permament Academicians Jordi Bonet Armengol, Leopoldo Gil Nebot and Enric Llimona Raymat.<br \/>\nIn 2001 Generalitat de Catalunya awarded him with &#8220;Creu de Sant Jordi&#8221; distinction.<br \/>\nBetween 1956 and 1990 he was Full professor at the Department of Planning of the School of Architecture of Barcelona and since then he is an Emeritus professor. He founded and supervised (1984) the Master on Landscape architecture hosted by the UPC (&#8220;Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Catalunya&#8221;).<br \/>\nHe works as a free lance practitioner in the fields of architecture, planning and landscape architecture.<br \/>\nHe is co-author of Barcelona Regional Plan (1962) and of the Guidelines for Barcelona Metropolitan Area (1968); author of the Structure and Master Plan of the cities of Palma de Mallorca (1972), Murcia (1977) and Tortosa (1984). He is also co-author of the Planning and Subsidiary Urban Rules of the towns located in the &#8220;Vall de Ribes de Freser&#8221; area (1985), of the preliminary lay-out study for &#8220;Ronda de Dalt&#8221; in Barcelona (1987) and of the Master Plans of the towns of Campdev\u00e0nol (1987) and Ripoll (1989).<br \/>\nHe is also author of the Development plans of Murcia (&#8220;Ensanche Norte, CR3&#8221;, 1982) and Tortosa (&#8220;Temple I&#8221;, 1993). He was in charge of the project and execution of two new boulevards in &#8220;Carmel&#8221; neighbourhood (Barcelona 1991) and in Mollet town (1995), of the new square of the Town Council in Ripoll (1993) and of the renewing of the old town in Sant Pere de Torell\u00f3 (1995).<br \/>\nHe is author of the project for the monumental sorroundings of &#8220;Monestir de Ripoll&#8221;, in Ripoll (1981). He was in charge of the project and execution for the restoration and enlargement of the wine cellar buildings and of the Fontcalda sanctuary, both in the town of Gandesa (1989).<br \/>\nHe is co-author of the new &#8220;Vall d&#8217;Hebron&#8221; Campus (&#8220;Universitat de Barcelona&#8221;, 1992) including the remodeling of the &#8220;Llars Mundet&#8221; historic building (faculties of Pedagogy and Psychology).<br \/>\nCo-author of &#8220;Parc de Vallparad\u00eds&#8221; (25 Ha), in Terrassa city. He has worked as coordinator of the whole project and he is responsible of a specific area in Phase I of the project (1989-2005).<br \/>\nCo-author of &#8220;Parc de Sa Riera&#8221; in Palma de Mallorca (2008), by competition.<br \/>\nHis last architecture project has been the Parish Church in &#8220;La Mina&#8221; quarter in Sant Adri\u00e0 de Bes\u00f2s, Barcelona (2008).<br \/>\nHe has published the books &#8220;Jardins de Catalunya&#8221; (Edicions 62, Barcelona 1991), &#8220;Nicolau M. Rubi\u00f3 i Tudur\u00ed i el planejament territorial&#8221; (Editorial Altafulla, Barcelona 1995) and &#8220;Barcelona i la Catalunya-ciutat&#8221; (Angle Editorial, Manresa 2004).
